Tanja Sonc
About the festival

The Festival was founded in 2016 by a young Slovenian violinist Tanja Sonc. Tanja is the first prize winner of the Brahms competition in Pörtschach (Austria) and a prize winner of many national and international competitions. After her studies in Ljubljana and Salzburg, she is currently finishing her Solo Master`s degree in Zürich. From the season 2017/2018 on she will be a member of chamber orchestra “Zürcher Kammerorchester”.

Tanja Sonc: “I created this festival with a big wish of playing chamber music on a high level in my home region. I want to show to the musicians the beauties of Slovenia, present our culture and local cuisine, and get classical music closer to the public. I believe we can bring a lot of positive energy, motivation to young generations and enrich the summer evenings in Posavje region. Music connects people and nowadays we need it more than ever because it is a universal language all around the world, which we all understand”.

This year Boštjan Lipovšek also became part of the Sonc Festival as an artistic director. He is a professor at the Ljubljana and Zagreb Academy and is a solo horn player at the Symphony Orchestra RTV Slovenia.
